Dr. Jeffery Rau, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Biography

Growing up in the Gulf South, Dr. Rau found an outlet for helping others through the artistry of plastic surgery. A native of Houma, Louisiana, he saw his region needed the skill and compassion of highly trained surgeons, so he set out to become one. His medical journey started in Louisiana but quickly took him throughout the South.

Dr. Rau graduated summa cum laude from Nicholls State in Louisiana before earning his medical doctorate at Tulane University School of Medicine. After that, he completed his general surgery residency at the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. From there, he worked as a trauma and acute care surgeon and trained surgery residents at Lafayette General Medical Center. His work in Lafayette earned him the honor of being designated a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

He furthered his training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. In Tennessee, he gained even more experience in breast reconstruction, facial trauma, aesthetic surgery, and hand surgery. Now, his medical career has taken him back to the Gulf South. In addition to practicing at Stalder Plastic Surgery, he operates at Physicians Medical Center in Houma, Thibodeaux Regional Medical Center, and Terrebonne General Medical Center.

He is deeply committed to his hometown of Houma, LA. Dr. Rau serves on the board of the Hache Grant Association to promote revitalization projects, is involved in the Houma Restoration District Commission as well as the Rhoda Ann Guillot Rau Foundation, which funds special needs education.
